The Magic Apple

Photo Recolourisation

Colouring a black and white photo makes for interesting results, but manipulating existing colour can produce pieces that are just as astonishing. Can you guess which is the original portrait and which is the one I recoloured? If you guessed green as original and red as my work, then you would be correct.

This project is actually as simple as I’ll describe it. Using the quick select tool, I made a rough selection of the green apple. I then used a colour fill adjustment layer with the colour of my choosing. I set the blend mode to overlay and left it at 100% opacity. With a small, soft brush and low opacity (10-30%), I cleaned up the edges of the apple to finish the look.
