Tattoo Removal 06

Photo Retouching Techniques

Continuing with the theme of removing small tattoos, I chose to work on this photo as the skin tone had a fairly even balance of light and shadow which made it seem straightforward. It was so and although I was able to clean the arm almost entirely with the spot healing brush, I was meticulous and used the clone stamp tool on a new layer which sampled all layers below.

The spot healing brush did a fantastic job, but I wanted to ensure the skin tone remained natural as there is a noticeable shift between the shadow and light in the middle of the forearm. I brushed over each area where the original tattoo was in order to preserve the textures of the skin that had been healed. I think this projected turned out well and I’m fairly happy with the results.
