Portrait Isolation and Composite

Learning how to remove an element from its original background is an invaluable skill to have when using Photoshop or any image processing application. This composite was the result of practicing the art of isolating hair from its background.

I thought Michelle’s pose was fantastic, but I did not like the window with rebar over it. That element was distasteful so I attempted to replace it with something better.

Because she already had a red light shining on her left shoulder originally, instead of replacing the background, I used a texture. I used soft light blending and added a simple red to transparent gradient to match the illumination on her shoulder to create the final composite.
